About Jerusalem Descending
Mission Statement
Jerusalem Descending is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to encourage Jewish people throughout the United States to make Aliyah — returning to the nation of Israel to build a new life there. This mission is rooted in the belief that persecution will one day come to Jewish communities in America.
In support of this calling, Mike has written a book titled The Sword Is Sharpened: Holocaust II, Death of the American Jew.
About Us
Mike Lambert
Michael Lambert, President of Jerusalem Descending, grew up in West Texas, the son of Vic Lambert, a drilling consultant, and Esther Lambert, a renowned artist. Michael worked as a Drilling Fluid Engineer across Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah, California, and Louisiana.
In 1974, he had a dramatic encounter with Jesus Christ that changed his life. He left his company and enrolled at Christ for the Nations Institute (CFNI), a Bible school in Dallas, Texas. There he met his future wife, Helen M. Wolf. Nine months later they married and traveled to Israel, living on a kibbutz where they worked in the cotton fields, kitchen, and boot factory, while also exploring the country from Rosh Hanikra and the Sea of Galilee in the north down to the Red Sea.
In 1982, Mike and Helen returned to Israel with their five children and lived there for the next fifteen years. Mike pastored a church in Jerusalem for eleven of those years, and he and Helen traveled to roughly thirty nations during this period. Among their many endeavors, they helped establish the Christ for Romania Bible School in Cluj-Napoca and preached in approximately three hundred churches throughout Romania.
After returning to the United States, Helen attended nursing school and worked at a doctor's office, while Mike continued as a Drilling Fluid consultant and earned a Master of Divinity degree from The King's Seminary, founded by Jack Hayford. Mike also served as Dean of Students and a teacher at CFNI in Dallas. Over the course of his ministry, he has preached in approximately 1,000 churches in America and another 1,000 overseas. After twenty years stateside, Mike and Helen returned to Israel for about five years, where Mike taught at a Bible school in Tel Aviv.
Helen Lambert
Helen M. Lambert grew up in Indiana, the daughter of a farmer who also worked in construction, and a mother who helped work the farm. Helen came to faith in Christ in her own dramatic way and moved to Texas to attend Christ for the Nations Institute, where she met Mike. They married nine months later and made that first journey to Israel, living on the kibbutz and traveling the land together.
When they returned to Israel twenty years later with their five children, Helen became deeply involved with Women's Aglow, serving as President of the Jerusalem chapter for eleven years. She also participated in bringing food, clothing, and the gospel into southern Lebanon during wartime. In later years, Helen traveled to Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
